Harris History Update

Hi Folks:

The end of school year rush has officially begun. Here is a list of what’s going on in Room 128

P2 Civics: Unit 2 Test tomorrow. Review is posted online along with a review game that we did in class today.

P3 History: Students saw their WWII test results today; please ask your child how he or she fared. Students received culminating project instructions today and topic selections take place tomorrow. I have the library booked all next week to complete the task. Some initial research on the weekend wouldn’t hurt.

P4 History: WWII test results were released yesterday as was the 2-part course culminating task. Student interview questions (for Part 1) are due on Monday so I can check them over. Students will be in the library all next week working on their decades project. The decade presentations begin a week from Monday.

Hi Everyone:

P2 Civics: Please complete the goverment representative questions assigned in class.

P3/4: Unit test written today. Students must bring a draft of their essay tomorrow for peer editing. Draft should include title page, essay and footnotes, as well as bibliography. I have set up a trial run assignment folder in turnitin so students can see how their paper turns out when it’s uploaded. Students can bring all essay materials tomorrow to complete as much of the assignment as possible, especially if more research is required (though this should be done by now).

Harris History Update

Hi Everyone:

I hope you all had a great long weekend and enjoyed the awesome, summer-like weather that we had.

P2 Civics: We had our class election today and the winning party ended up with a minority government. No homework, but students should be able to recount some of the major steps in a real federal election for you.

Busy week for history students!

WWII/Holocaust Unit test on Thursday, peer editing of essays on Friday, good copy of essays due Monday (including upload to turnitin.com)

Harris History: Long Weekend Edition

I hope you all have a GREAT long weekend. The weather forecast looks promising for the most part.

P2 Civics: No homework. We will be doing our class election on Tuesday.

P3/4 History: Students will receive their essay process work back today with feedback from me. Next week will be very busy; we have our WWII unit test on Thursday and peer editing of the rough draft of the essay on Friday. Time management will be crucial! I have attached the test review sheet for your reference. We will do in-class review on Wednesday as well. At this point, students should have gathered all necessary sources and conducted sufficient research to write their essay. After reviewing the Step 2 process packages, I can tell you that some are further along than others. Please ask your son or daughter how their progress is going with the essay. There is still time to catch up if they have fallen behind, but starting to write the draft on Thursday night at 9:30 is not a good strategy.

Please note that I will not be checking my email this weekend. If you have a question about any of the above, I will have get back to you on Tuesday.
