Harris History Update (the last one!)

Hi Everyone:

I think this will be my last update for the school year. If that’s the case, have a great summer. Here is the latest info from Room 128:

P2 Civics: Students will finish final presentations tomorrow. I should have a mark update the following day if all goes as planned. No exam in Civics to study for (they are so upset about this, by the way).

P3 History: I posted up to date marks today that include everything but the exam. Students will write the essay portion of the exam in class tomorrow afternoon.

P4 History: I should have updated marks ready to go for tomorrow’s class. Students will write the essay portion of the exam in class tomorrow afternoon.

Grade 10 History Final Exam Info and Review Material

Dear Parents:

I have attached final exam review material for my grade 10 classes. It is also posted on my class website and homework blog. All grade 10s will write their history exam next Thursday in the afternoon. There were some exam conflicts, but those were sorted out by our vice-principal on a case-by-case basis. Students will write the essay portion of the exam in class on Wednesday to lighten the writing load on exam day. I have recommended to students that studying should NOT begin on Tuesday night; rather, they should break study sessions into chunks to increase long-term retention. Active studying is always best. Examples include: writing/re-writing notes, explaining information to a partner and creating mind maps or concept maps.

Harris History Update

Hi Everyone:

I hope you enjoyed the awesome weather yesterday and, despite this dreary rain, that you had a great start to your week.

P2 Civics: Students should continue working on their culminating task research. Presentations begin on Monday. There is no final exam for Civics students.

*History students will write the essay portion of their exam IN CLASS the day before exams begin (next Wednesday). Attendance on this day is very important.

P3 History: We had a great start to our Great Canadians debates today. The politicians are up tomorrow. Students had their WWII essays returned late last week.

P4 History: The interview project is due tomorrow. I returned WWII essays today.

Harris History Update

Hi Everyone:

P2 Civics: No homework. The course culminating task will be distributed in class tomorrow (it’s on my website if you would like to review it). Topics will be selected by lottery Thursday and next week will be devoted to finishing the task.

P3 History: Students should be researching their Great Canadian to prepare for next week’s debates. We have had 2 library days for this and will likely have one more on Thursday. The debates begin Monday and finish next Friday.

P4 History: Students should have submitted their culminating task interview questions to me for approval/feedback. Most have done this step! The interview task is due next Tuesday. Students are also researching a post-WWII decade and these persuasive presentations begin next Monday. We will likely be in the library for the rest of this week to prepare. I have recommended that decade research should be done outside of school time as well.
