Happy Holidays from Harris History

Well, this is the last Harris History update of 2013. Don’t worry, there will be more to come in the new year. I am going to start doing video updates so you can hear and see me describe the day’s activities and homework. Just kidding.

Students in all of my classes technically do not have homework; however, many have indicated that they will continue working on their course culminating activity over the break.

P1 and P4 have 3 work periods scheduled when we return (Jan. 6, 7, 8) and the Great Canadian debates begin on Monday, January 13.

P2 students have 2 work periods when we return (Jan.6, 7). Their projects are also due on the 13th.

I have asked all students to try to use our TVDSB databases as much as possible when conducting research. The username and password was given to them in class and I will post them on my website as well. Students can access the databases from our Oakridge homepage; it’s the ‘Library 2’ link on the left hand side.

I hope that you enjoy any time off that you have over the next 2 weeks. I won’t be checking my email but you will hear from me when school returns in January. Take care.

Harris History Update

Hi Folks:

Ok, who ordered the snow? A skier or snowboarder, no doubt. It’s not even technically winter yet!

P1 and P4: Topic selection for Course Culminating Activity is tomorrow so students should come prepared with some topic choices. P4 students had Friday’s quiz returned today. I hope to have P1’s back tomorrow.

P2: Continue working on Course Culminating Activity. Tomorrow is the final day to submit a Civil Rights bibliography.

Harris History: Weekend Edition

So I received some feedback about my Remind101 decision and I have decided to keep sending email updates in addition to using the texting option. The blog will continue to be updated each time I send an email. For those of you who were panicking about not receiving any more email from me, you can now sleep soundly at night.

P1 and P4: Students wrote WWII/Holocaust quiz. P1 students make sure you finish the Cold War questions from Creating Canada (text pages on my website). P4 students please finish map and article questions (most finished in class)

P2: Great job on the Civil War to Civil Rights presentations! Students who submitted essays on time had them returned today with my apologies for taking so long to get through them. No homework unless a presentation bibliography hasn’t been submitted yet.

Have a great weekend everyone!
