Harris History Update

Have a great weekend everyone. Looks like it’s going to be a good one.

P1: Students received the instructions for the course culminating activity. We are doing topic selections on Monday, so students should review the options and have a few in mind for Monday morning.

P3: I extended the eulogy due date to Tuesday to avoid any Sunday night stress-outs. Students should try to finish as much of the final draft as possible, but not at the expense of sleep.

P4: Study for political spectrum quiz (postponed from yesterday).

Until Monday…

P1: No homework. Course culminating activity will be distributed in class tomorrow and we will do topic selection on Monday.

P3: I issued updated marks to the Grade 11 class yesterday. I was really impressed by how many students came to class with a draft of their historical eulogy. The peer editing went really well. Students should try to finish the good copy of the eulogy as soon as possible. It’s due on Monday but it’s always a good idea to let it collect at least a day’s worth of dust on the desk before doing one last read-through.

P4: Complete elections article and focus questions. Try to find a good summary of the different party platforms for the Ontario election.

Have a great evening.

Harris History Update

P1: Most students ‘forgot’ to complete last night’s homework about the October Crisis. They should ‘remember’ to complete it tonight. We began our study of the Cold War today so any info or anecdotes you can share would be helpful.

P3: We will do peer editing of historical eulogies tomorrow. Students must bring a typed copy that has also been uploaded to the e-learning dropbox, as well as a working bibliography. If printer ink is running low, we can print here; I know how expensive that stuff is!

P4: Study for tomorrow’s political spectrum quiz. Parents can also ask students which party the Vote Compass website indicated that they would vote for if they could vote today. Try it for yourself if interested.

Harris History Update

I hope you all had a fantastic long weekend. The weather certainly worked out, especially yesterday. Lots of sunburns in the halls today!

P1: Students who submitted WWII reports on time had them returned today. No homework.

P3: Continue CCA research. Should have at least 3 pages of notes and a working bibliography by Thursday.

P4: Students wrote a gruelling unit test today. Sore writing hands and no homework. We have Ward 8 city councillor Paul Hubert in class tomorrow to help students learn about municipal government.

Have a great evening.
